SPECIALISTINFO MEDICO-LEGAL SERVICES

Medico-Legal Directory

SpecialistInfo Medico-Legal is part of the SpecialistInfo online directory of Consultants and GPs that includes special interests, contact information, and Medico-Legal and Clinical Trials experience.

Doctors who have a profile on the Directory can provide their Medico-Legal CV free of charge. These can then be viewed by subscribing Medico-Legal Agencies, Solicitors and Insurance Companies who are looking for doctors to instruct as expert witnesses.

Providing a Medico-Legal CV entitles doctors to become Associate Members of the Faculty of Expert Witnesses ('the FEW' - see below). Doctors who have also undertaken approved expert witness training as well as having a CV on their profile qualify to become Members of the FEW. The highest level of the FEW is Fellowship - at this grade a solicitor has checked that a Fellow's anonymised, sample report is CPR compliant and of good quality. FEW membership level is indicated on doctors' Medico-Legal profiles.

Medico-Legal Training

SpecialistInfo has been providing highly acclaimed Medico-Legal Courses (CPD eligible) for doctors and other medical professionals in various locations across the country since 2007. Since then, we have held well over 100 courses and trained over 2,500 doctors. Our lead course tutors are practising Barristers and personal injury Solicitors. Over the last 10 years we have worked closely with them to develop our courses and expand our course programme. The Medico-Legal course range currently includes: Medico-Legal Essentials (Personal Injury), Clinical Negligence, and Advanced (including Court Room Skills) courses.

Faculty of Expert Witnesses

The The Faculty of Expert Witnesses ( the 'FEW' ) aims to promote high quality Medico-Legal expertise to law firms and insurance companies. More information can be found found here.

Mediation Training

Mediation Courses for Doctors are provided through the Society of Mediators ('SOM') and give delegates the skills required to practice as accredited mediators. The 5-day SOM course leads to Civil & Commercial Mediation Accreditation, and is recognised by the Civil Mediation Council and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. Details of over 70 doctors who are trained Mediators are available in the Mediators Section of SpecialistInfo. The training does not confine you to mediating medical disputes, but also allows you to practice your skills in community and commercial disputes, should you so wish.
